What is the Summer Spotlight?
The Summer Spotlight provides important information for parents to help prepare for the upcoming school year. You can find a link on the main page of our school website or on the ECC page of the website. Information on school supplies, school start daysand times, rest mat order forms, and important days reminders can all be found not the Summer Spotlight.
When will classes be assigned?
The school will send a letter in late-June that assigns each child to a class. In addition, the letter will indicate the day your child is assigned for his/her half-day orientation. Half-day Orientation Daysare 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. August 12thor 13th. The first full day of school is August 14th.
When will Back to School Night and Meet the Teacher Night be held?
Meet the Teacher Nightis August 8thfrom 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. We ask that one parent attend so your child can play with their friends outside with the other parent.
Back to School Nightwill be August 8thfrom 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Come by, show your child their classroom, and drop off your school supplies.
What are the arrival and dismissal procedures?
Arrival
Early morning care is from 7:00-7:45 a.m. Park in the circle drive (carpool lane) and walk your child directly to the PK2 classrooms.
Regular arrival is from 7:45-8:00 a.m. Park in the Independent Presbyterian Church parking lot and walk your child directly to the PK2 classrooms.
Dismissal
Half-day dismissalis at 11:30 a.m. and full-day dismissal is at 2:30 p.m. (except on Wednesdays, when full-day dismissal is at 2:00 p.m.). Park in the Independent Presbyterian Church parking lot and walk into the ECC foyer. Your child will be waiting on the blue cloud for pick up.
Extended Day Activities(EDA) are available until 6:00 p.m. and is held in the PK2 classrooms. You may park in the St. Dominic circle drive and enter through the ECC entrance. Sign your child out at the front desk and pick him/her up from the classroom.
What are the lunch options?
Food service and milk are available five days a week, except half days. Details for meal/milk plan options will be available on the Summer Spotlight. Weekly menus are posted on the Wednesday Wire and emailed each week.
If you are providing your child’s lunch, please send it in the reusable container and packed in a thermal lunchbox. The school provides the reusable container for you to use. Please remember SAA-SDS is a peanut-freecampus.
What about snacks?
After saying a blessing and washing their hands, the children enjoy a healthy snack brought from home every day at approximately 10:00 a.m. Snack suggestions are fruits, veggies, cheese, crackers, yogurt, or granola bars. Teachers serve water in a 5oz. cup provided by the school.
What nap materials do we need?
According to the TN Department of Education, both the mat and the child must be covered at rest time. You may purchase a mat cover that also has a coverlet attached, or purchase another style and provide a rest blanket. Please do not send in any nap materials that are too large for the cubbies or for your child to carry alone. You may purchase a Happi Nappi through the school for $30.00.
Can I buy a regular backpack for my child?
Due to the size of the ECC cubbies, students must use the ECC tote bag provided by the school. Should you need to replace this bag at any time, a new one can be purchased from the school.
